Risks to Campus: A Head-to-Head Discussion

November 16, 2018 • 12:00 PM • Law School 4055

The Duke Center on Risk in Science & Society presents a discussion on Risks to Campus. The Duke Center on Risk is sponsoring a series of "Head-to-Head" talks to explore the value of considering complex, contemporary risks from multiple perspectives. What are the biggest risks facing the modern research university? And what issues are over the horizon that we haven't thought about enough? We'll have a moderated discussion with two leaders at Duke whose job it is to think about these issues, featuring: Richard Biever, Chief Information Security Officer with Duke OIT, as well as Leigh Goller, Chief Audit with Duke's Office of Audit, Risk & Compliance. Some issues to be discussed include making risk-informed decisions in a resource constrained environment, the strengths and challenges of a decentralized organization structure, consumerization of technology, orderly leadership transition, risks unique to academic medical centers, pitfalls of predicting the future of risks, technology velocity, protecting sensitive data and integrity on campus. Lunch will be provided. Please RSVP to scienceandsociety.duke.edu/risk-head-to-head to reserve your spot. For more information, contact Tyler Felgenhauer tyler.felgenhauer@duke.edu.
