2012 Schedule of Events
Thursday, May 10
Graduation Gala (All graduating students and significant other)
7 - 11 p.m., Law School, Star Commons
Celebrate with your classmates, faculty, and administrators at this semi-formal reception and dance. This event will feature a slide show and the presentation of the Class Gift, Justin Miller Graduation Awards, and LLM Award, followed by dancing. Heavy Hors d'oeuvres with beer and wine served.
You, the graduate, and your spouse/significant other are invited at no charge compliments of Duke Law. Semi-formal attire recommended.
Friday, May 11
Family Barbecue (All graduating students and guests)
5 - 7 p.m., Doris Duke Center, Sarah P. Duke Gardens
Bring your family and indulge in pulled pork, barbecued chicken, coleslaw, and banana pudding (vegetarian option also provided).
Tickets are $15; free for children under the age of 5.
Candlelight Dinner (International students and guests)
7 - 11 p.m., Law School, Star Commons
This event proves to be one of the most special of the year, as international students' and LLM students' families and friends travel from around the world to share in graduation. Sponsored by the Office of International Studies.
Attendance is free, and business casual to semi-formal attire is recommended.
Saturday, May 12
Hooding Ceremony (All graduating students and guests)
4:30 p.m. student line-up
5:15 - 7:15 p.m., ceremony; Cameron Indoor Stadium
The graduation ceremony solely for the Law School. Graduating students will have their names individually read and be presented with their law hoods on stage. DVDs of the ceremony as well as individual student pictures will be available for purchase.
Champagne Farewell (All graduating students and guests)
Immediately following the Hooding Ceremony, Law School, Star Commons - Share a glass with friends, family, and fellow graduating students. All are welcome. There is no program.
Sunday, May 13
Coffee, University Commencement, and Diploma Pick-up (All graduating students and guests)
8 a.m. Coffee, Law School, Star Commons
Coffee will be served prior to students lining up to proceed to Wallace Wade Stadium for the University Graduation Exercises.
8:45 a.m. Line-up leaves Law School
10 a.m. Ceremony, Wallace Wade Stadium
11:30 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. Law School, Blue Lounge
Diploma Pick Up, Rented JD Regalia Return, & light refreshments
