Add/Remove people from the ILS listerve:

Check the ILS webmail often: intlawsoc@law.duke.edu

  1. Set up working folders for yourself
  2. you may need to delete undelivered mail from nonworking emails on the listerve
  3. keep working emails in the appropriate folder so next year’s officers can reference back on them

To plan a speaker event or club event:

  1. set a date a few weeks beforehand
  2. Funding:
    1. DBA http://law.duke.edu/student/act/dba/index.html
    2. GPSC http://www.duke.edu/gpsc/student_groups/
    3. you can contact OCS if the event is career/job related
    4. if a faculty member is bringing in a speaker, the faculty member may be able to use their school account for food if it’s ordered from JD’s
    5. you can contact the International Office as a last resort for food funding

    1. book a room via Groupwise a good deal before event to ensure you get a good sized room
    2. list the event on Duke Daily once all details are set
    3. fill out housekeeping forms
  4. on day of event:
    1. have someone pick up and be responsible for food
    2. get bottle of water if speaker is coming
    3. have someone be in charge of taking photos for photo section
    4. try and clean up a bit after event
