Duke Law School
Business Law Society

ESQ.

The Business Law Society hosted its third annual Business Law Symposium, ESQ., on Friday, February 11, 2005. The goal of ESQ. is to provide a forum where Duke Law students can tap into the knowledge and experience of distinguished attorneys who practice in various areas of corporate law. To that end, the Business Law Society invited twenty-seven attorneys, most of whom are alumni, to visit the Law School for a series of small-group discussions with students.

This year’s participants included a firm chairman, a hiring partner, a senior vice president of a major corporation, and company general counsel as well as numerous partners in major firms throughout the country.  These experienced attorneys practice in a wide range of fields, including environmental, international securities, employment, mergers & acquisitions, and corporate law, just to name a few.

All members of the Duke University School of Law community were invited to join us at ESQ.  For the second straight year, all events were FREE.  To that end, we would like to thank all of our generous sponsors:  Paul, Hastings, Janofsky & Walker; Cadwalader, Wickersham & Taft; Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher; Moore & Van Allen; and the Duke Global Capital Markets Center.

The event was held all day on Friday, Feb. 11, and included breakfast and lunch as well as a post-event reception at the Law School. For more information about future events, please contact Brian Ward at mailto:brian.ward@law.duke.edu.
