Reforms in European Competition Law

Jürgen Basedow, sponsored by the Center for International & Comparative Law, will be guest speaker in Prof. Barak Richman’s Antitrust class, which will be open to others for this session.

Prof. Dr. Dr. h.c. Jürgen Basedow, LL.M. (Harvard Univ.) is director of the Max-Planck Institute for Comparative and International Private Law and Professor of Law at University of Hamburg, Germany. He is also the chairman of the German Monopoly Commission and a ThinkTank on Private Enforcement of DG Competition of the European Commission. Professor Basedow specializes in private international law, international business transactions, and European private law—in particular, competition and insurance law. He has served on advisory committees for both the European Commission and the German government. He also is a member of the German Council on Private International Law and serves as the Secretary General of the International Academy of Comparative Law.

Prof. Basedow will be available for further conversation with students from 3:00 pm until 4 pm in Room 4190.

Those who are interested in antitrust issues will be able to attend another event directly after Prof. Richman's class, in Room 3041, at 12:05 PM, “The Microsoft Antitrust Cases in the EU: Reflections, Analysis, and Predictions,” sponsored by the Center for the Study of the Public Domain.
