GREAT DEBATE POSTPONED

A law debate between top members of the American and British legal system, originally scheduled to be held Sept. 20 at Duke University, has been postponed until the spring of 2002 following Tuesday's terrorist attacks in the United States.

In a note to the Duke Law School, U.S. Court of Appeals for the Armed Forces Judge Eugene Sullivan, a member of the American debate team, wrote that the Great Debate series would be postponed "out of respect for the tragedy our Country has endured."

In addition to the debate at Duke, similar debates were to have been held at the George Mason Law School in Washington, D.C., and at the U.S. Embassy in London. All three debates are expected to be held in the spring.
