Lars Halgreen LLM '92 is one of several visiting scholars at Duke Law School this summer Halgreen, a partner at Bech-Bruun Dragsted in Copenhagen, Denmark, returned to Durham for two months to research the business aspects of American sports law. His goal is a book comparing the legal status of sports leagues in the United States and Europe. "Sports law in a sense is not something that has been on the agenda in Denmark, or even in Scandinavia, for many years," said Halgreen, president of the Scandinavian Duke Law School Association. The abolishment of the old transfer system in soccer and the dramatic increase in revenues from television contracts have changed the business and legal landscape, so sports law is an emerging field across the continent.
