As the only such clinic in the Triangle, Duke Law School’s Low-Income Taxpayer Clinic (LITC) is a valuable resource to the community, assisting low-income taxpayers with matters pending before the IRS. Since its January 2006 launch, the clinic has been involved in more than 80 cases, with referrals coming from a number of different sources including Legal Aid of North Carolina, the IRS, the Law School’s Volunteer Income Tax Program (VITA), the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, North Carolina Central University, and the United States Tax Court.

The LITC relies on the continued support of donors in order to provide free legal services to otherwise underserved clients.

If you are interested in supporting the Low-Income Taxpayer Clinic please contact Terri Stevens, Director of Regional and Major Gifts for Alumni and Development, by email or at 919-613-8549.
