The Duke Journal of Comparative & International Law is now accepting submissions for Volume 20.
General Information
The Duke Journal of Comparative & International Law seeks to publish original scholarship on international, transnational, and comparative law. The DJCIL welcomes submissions from professors and practitioners.Timing
We will review and accept submissions on a rolling basis through the end of August. Since acceptances are made on a rolling basis, we encourage authors to submit manuscripts as early as possible.Submit Online

Requirements
The DJCIL has a strong preference for articles of fewer than 35,000 words (or roughly 70 law review pages), including footnotes; longer articles will only be published in exceptional circumstances. Shorter essays are welcomed.All articles should be submitted in English. The text should be double-spaced and footnotes must conform with The Bluebook: A Uniform System of Citation (18th ed.). Authors should be prepared to supply any cited sources upon request.
Expedited Reviews
In limited cases, we can expedite the review of a submitted article if the author is facing strict response deadlines by other journals that have already accepted the article. To request an expedited review, please send an email to djcil@law.duke.edu. (Please include "Request for Expedited Review: TITLE OF ARTICLE" in the subject heading.)Please provide the following information in your correspondence:
- Author name and contact information (phone and email)
- Article title
- Journals that have accepted the article
- Deadlines those journals have given the author
- The latest possible date that the author can be given a decision
Selection Process
The DJCIL’s Articles Editors will carefully review your article once it is received. Upon recommendation of the Articles Editors, the Editor-in-Chief makes the final decision regarding publication. Typically, Duke Law School faculty are consulted on the evaluation of articles. Once an article has been selected, the Editor-in-Chief will contact the author with a contract and further information on the publication process.We look forward to reviewing your submissions.
