Attending the Hong Kong Institute during the summer after my 1L year was a fantastic experience! The classes were refreshingly non-conventional after having run the gauntlet of basic 1L courses. Also, because Institute classes were both taught and attended by professors and students from all over the globe, I was constantly exposed to different world views and perspectives which greatly expanded my legal thinking and made a lasting impression on my outlook on how the law effects social policy. The evening dinners sponsored by the Institute provided great opportunities both to have totally relaxed (and often hilarious!) conversations with professors, and to meet foreign students, some of whom I still maintain great relationships with to this day. Finally, the program left more than enough time to get out and about and explore the main Hong Kong districts. It was definitely one of the more memorable educational experiences that I have had while in law school.

I am very grateful for my Hong Kong experience. Getting familiar with rich Asian culture, meeting people and making lots of friends, learning and keeping track of new developments in certain areas of law -- all this in one lively and full-of-excitement month! I believe what makes the Hong Kong summer program really unique is the cultural education -- having students from various parts of the world sharing their thoughts, ideas, and experiences. The truly international community of students made the Institute even more rich and, certainly, unforgettable.

Being a part of the student body at the Asia-America Institute gave me unforgettable and valuable experiences. Students are not only taught by great professors from both American and Asian countries, but also select courses from an excellent curriculum and learn in a wonderful academic environment. I met new friends from all over the world and we spent time together at various activities such as afternoon seminars and law firm visits. All of the extracurricular activities added to my knowledge of law practice and Hong Kong society. I strongly recommend the Asia-America Institute.

The Hong Kong summer institute was a great start for my LL.M. study at Duke. I experienced American-style study before my semester at Duke began. I had fun with students from all over the world through great extracurricular activities. The Hong Kong summer institute was one of my most valuable experiences and I can guarantee it will be the same for you.

The Hong Kong summer institute provides a whole new global perspective and is a great chance to meet friends from around the world. The program is perfect for those who wish to gain a great deal of legal knowledge in a short period of time.

Lawyers today need a wider perspective of the world in order to best defend their clients' interests. The Hong Kong summer institute allows students to gain such a global perspective. While at the Institute, I met lawyers from many international law firms as well as JD classmates, who made my transition to Duke much easier.

Attending the Asia-America Institute in Hong Kong complemented my legal studies and interest in international law. The program's structure, in which each course is taught by two leading professors for a period of two weeks, provides an in-depth introduction to a variety of topics in international law. In just one month, I gained exposure to six different areas of law in three courses. In addition to class instruction, participating in a program alongside law students and attorneys from around the world is rewarding. I highly recommend the program to anyone considering a career in international law or generally interested in comparative legal systems.

This program brought together stimulating professors and intelligent students from all over the world. The entire learning experience was truly unique and inspiring. As a student from the host university, the University of Hong Kong, I was very happy to give overseas students a broad and in-depth view of Hong Kong. I enjoyed traveling with the other students to tourist attractions like the Big Buddha and Victoria Harbour, as well as to cultural sites such as Temple Street and Wong Tai Sin. I sincerely hope that other students will take advantage of this invaluable educational opportunity.
