Myron Dean Quon
Senior Lecturing Fellow
Professor Quon is the Executive Director of the Asian Pacific American Legal Resource Center, the Washington, D.C. metropolitan region’s nonprofit advocate assisting low-income and limited English proficient Asian Pacific Americans. He has taught at Northwestern University as an Adjunct Lecturer in the Asian American Studies Program where he developed and taught the program’s LGBT Law and Policy course.
Professor Quon has worked at the Lambda Legal Defense and Education Fund in Los Angeles, serving as Deputy Regional Director and as Staff Attorney, working to defend the rights of LGBT people and people living with HIV/AIDS. As Deputy Regional Director, he led a non-profit coalition working with minority and immigrant communities concerning same-sex marriage; guided the creation of an external civilian review board to reduce police misconduct by the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department; and, initiated outreach efforts to the Latino community. As the Staff Attorney, Professor Quon developed and presented dozens of civil-rights presentations, litigated novel legal issues, and initiated public policy reform focusing on the civil rights of LGBT people and people with HIV in ten western regional states. He specialized in preventing discrimination against actual or perceived LGBT teachers and students in public schools. Professor Quon has been a nationally recognized thought leader concerning civil rights issues for mainstream media and has been featured in stories by NPR, Washington Post, LA Times, and S.F. Examiner.
Professor Quon's experience includes leading the litigation efforts at the Asian American Institute, the Midwest region's nonprofit advocate for Asian Americans, and stewarding legal services grantmaking for The Chicago Community Trust, the fourth largest community foundation in the country. He began his career at the Legal Aid Foundation of Santa Barbara County where he supervised the regional staff in Santa Maria and Lompoc.
Professor Quon received his MBA from the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University; his Juris Doctor from Boston University School of Law; and his BA from the University of California at Berkeley. He is admitted to the U. S. Supreme Court Bar and the California State Bar.
