Walter Hue Nunnallee

Walter H. Nunnallee has been a tax professor at North Carolina Central University School of Law located in Durham, North Carolina since 1987. NCCU School of Law is one of four remaining Historically Black Law Schools in America. During the past 20 years, more than sixty of the Law School’s graduates have earned graduate tax degrees (LL.M. Taxation) from various Law Schools including NYU, University of Florida, Georgetown, Northwestern, Boston University, the University of Houston, Case Western, and Villanova. NCCU School of Law is proud to acknowledge that Nina E. Olson, the current IRS National Taxpayer Advocate, is one of its many notable graduates specializing in tax law. Professor Nunnallee is also an adjunct tax professor at Duke University School of Law, and the University of Florida College of Law Graduate Tax Program.
Professor Nunnallee worked as a CPA with KPMG in Raleigh, North Carolina from 1975 to 1978. From 1981 through 1988 he was an attorney with the law firms of Poyner & Spruill, and Manning, Fulton & Skinner in Raleigh, North Carolina. His academic credentials include a B.S. from Florida State University, a J.D. from the University of North Carolina, and an LL.M. in Taxation from the University of Florida (where he finished first in his class).
Nunnallee has authored numerous tax articles which have been published in The Oregon Law Review, The North Carolina Central Law Review, The Tax Lawyer, Tax Notes, and The Review of Taxation of Individuals. Professor Nunnallee frequently lectures at tax conferences at various tax institutes, and is also a nationally-recognized discussion leader for tax-oriented CLE and CPE seminars throughout the country. He is a member of the North Carolina Association of Certified Public Accountants and the North Carolina Bar Association (past chairman of the Tax Section, 1991-92). He also serves on the Board of Advisors of the J. Nelson Young Tax Institute. Since 1992, Professor Nunnallee has served as a speaker with Don Farmer, CPA, PA Seminars on the following topics: Federal Tax Update, Corporate/Business Taxation, and Individual Taxation.
