Jeremy Mullem

Senior Lecturing Fellow

Mr. Mullem received his A. B. in 1992 from Stanford University, his J. D. in 1995 from the University of California at Los Angeles School of Law, and his M.F.A. in 2001 from the University of Iowa Writers’ Workshop.

From 2002 until 2006, he was an Instructor with and then Acting Associate Director of the Program in Legal Rhetoric: Writing and Research at American University, Washington College of Law. At Washington College of Law, Mr. Mullem also taught a scholarly writing seminar/workshop called Writing for Publication and developed and taught an Advanced Lawyering Skills seminar that used intensive simulation to introduce second and third year students to aspects of civil litigation practice.

Mr. Mullem's research interests center on the development of scholarly legal writing and rhetoric, and on legal research and writing pedagogy. He has recently completed an empirical survey of a trend relating to the use of authority in academic legal writing, and is in the process of writing up those findings. He is also working on a second draft of a novel, tentatively titled Great Battlefields of the Civil War. His short fiction has appeared in several literary journals.
