Seongsu Kim
Lecturing Fellow
Seongsu Kim teaches Korean for Legal Studies. A member of the Duke Law LLM Class of 2012, Kim received a Bachelor of Law from Seoul National University in 2001 and a Master of Law from the same institution in 2006, with a thesis titled “Director’s Duties in Hostile Takeovers.”
Before coming to Duke, Kim was a practicing attorney in the finance group at Kim & Chang in Korea. His practice focused on capital markets, structured finance, and derivatives disputes.
Kim passed the Korean bar in 2000 and completed the two-year program at the Korean Judicial Research and Training Institute. While there, he served as an intern at the Seoul Central District Court, Jeonju District Prosecutor’s Office, and Aram Law Offices. He also served as a prosecutor and principal legal staff for a brigadier general in the Korean army from 2003 to 2006.
Kim’s native language is Korean and he is fluent in English.
