Deborah J. Hylton

Senior Lecturing Fellow

Ms. Hylton is a business consultant expert in structuring and implementing corporate strategies and complex transactions. In her two years as a consultant she has served as restructuring officer for a financially troubled company under the oversight of a secured lender group managed by General Electric Capital Corporation. She spent 22 years (15 as a partner) at Womble Carlyle Sandridge & Rice concentrating in corporate and securities law. She was a founding member of the Firm's RTP Office and a member of the Firm Management Committee for eight years. Her decisions to pursue a career in business law and then in business consulting were both driven by an interest in putting deals together. She has been active in various bar, civic and community matters. Other interests include her two teenage sons, travel, hiking, and cycling.

Ms. Hylton received her J.D. in 1983 from Duke University where she was a Senior Editor of Law and Contemporary Problems and a member of the Order of the Coif. She received her B.A. in 1979 from Baylor University where she was a member of Phi Beta Kappa.
