Lauren Collins

Head of Reference Services

 Ms. Collins joined the Duke Law Library in March 2007. She received a Master of Science in Information from the University of Michigan in 2003, her J.D. from the University of North Carolina in 1994 and a B.A. in communications from Howard University in 1991. After graduating from law school, Ms. Collins practiced employment law in North Carolina and Michigan and provided anti-harassment training to union employees for a national law firm. Prior to joining Duke, Ms. Collins was a reference librarian at both the University of Miami and Wayne State University in Detroit.

Ms. Collins co-teaches a section of Legal Analysis, Research and Writing. She is the coordinator of the Faculty Research Assistance Program. Ms. Collins is active in the American Association of Law Libraries having served on a national committee and as an officer at the local level. Her work includes Brown's Legacy Then and Now: Race and Law School Admissions Debates Continue after Nearly 70 Years, 8 AALL Spectrum 8 (April 2004) and the creation of a CALI tutorial entitled Cost of Legal Research.
