Senior Lecturing Fellow
Denise Riebe is a Senior Lecturing Fellow teaching an upper-level Appellate Practice course.
Riebe graduated summa cum laude from Hillsdale College in 1983 with a B.A. in Political Economics. She graduated with honors from Wake Forest University School of Law in 1986. As a member of the Law Review she published a note entitled "Intra-enterprise Conspiracy Theory" and won the Wake Law Review Award for the best student note. Riebe also clerked with the Honorable Robert H. Hall, United States District Court, Northern District of Georgia.
Riebe began her legal practice as a member of the Antitrust and Trade Regulation section at Hunton and Williams' Richmond, Virginia, office. Her practice involved a broad range of commercial litigation and business torts. She returned to North Carolina and practiced for several years in Raleigh. She has represented clients in state and federal courts as well as in arbitrations and mediations.
In addition to her private practice experience, Riebe served as the North Carolina Director for a bar review company and as an Associate Director of Continuing Legal Education for the North Carolina Bar Association.
In addition to teaching, Riebe is a certified mediator offering services through her company, "Mediation Works!"
Riebe is also a bar exam coach and consultant. She is authoring a book about bar exam preparation, Pass the Bar!, which will be available from Carolina Academic Press in November 2005.
Finally, Riebe is an adjunct professor at the University of North Carolina School of Law where she teaches mediation and family law courses and bar exam workshops.
