Grand Theft Auto: Class Action

March 22, 2010 • 12:15 PM • Law School 3041

Ted Frank, president and founder of the Center for Class Action Fairness (CCAF), will discuss the litigation surrounding the hidden sex scenes in the video game Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas. The settlement provided less than a quarter of a cent per plaintiff, but $1.3 million in attorneys' fees. As a member of the class, Mr. Frank successfully objected to the settlement. Due to Mr. Frank's work, the class was decertified, effectively ending the action. An advocate for tort reform, Mr. Frank and the CCAF represent consumers pro bono in class action settlement fairness hearings and in motions to certify consumer class actions. Lunch provided.
