The Auto Bailout and the Rule of Law

April 12, 2012 • 12:15 PM • Law School 3037

Join the Federalist Society and Professor Todd Zywicki form George Mason Law for a discussion of the Auto Bailouts and bankruptcies of Chrysler and General Motors. Professor Steven Schwarcz will provide commentary on Professor Zywicki's presentation. Professor Zywicki will discuss how the "success story" of the bailouts as told to us by Washington are not really successes and how bankruptcy law may have been bent or broken in the process. He also argues that a dangerous precedent has been set making it much more difficult to reverse the trends of executive overreach and excessive government entanglement with private business. A lengthy National Affairs article details his thoughts and may be found by clicking on the link above. For more information please contact Phil Aubart at pla4@duke.edu.
