iRecord Instructions

Media Services staff members are ready to provide training; just email "Media Requests" (media@law.duke.edu). If you're in the classroom call the hotline: 613-7249. See also our video tutorials.

On the Crestron touch panel:

1. If not already on, touch the screen. If you don't see buttons on the touch screen, press the screen again to start up the A/V system. The startup time varies by room.
2. On the lower right of the screen, touch "Event Record" or "Capture".
3. Touch the number or name for the camera you wish to use. We usually choose Rear Camera. (In 4049, touch "Program," then the camera button, then "Take;" in 3043, touch "Record" then the camera button, then "Send.")
4. Touch preset 1, or follow the instructions on the screen to zoom or move the camera as needed.
5. Go back to the main menu using the appropriate button.
6. Touch "Computer" in the upper left. Touch the image of the computer screen to enlarge it. (Touch again to reduce it.)

In the A/V rack or cabinet:

6. Press on the power button on the iRecord device until it lights up. This can take a few seconds.
7. If you are in a large room (and you move away from the lectern when you speak), take a wireless mic out of the drawer. Press the power button or move the switch to on. Test that the mic is on by speaking with it close to your mouth. Put the mic transmitter on your belt and the mic on your shirt about 6-8 inches below your chin.

On the computer (looking at the image on the Crestron or projected in the room):

8. Click the iRecord icon on Desktop
9. Change the video mode from VGA to QVGA
10. Push red button on the iRecord application to start recording. A timer runs when the application is recording.
11. Push the red button to stop recording. (You can start and stop as many times as you need to.) The device needs some time after the stop button is pressed to finish saving the recording.

After class or the event:

12. If this is intended for Blackboard, email "Media Requests" (media@law.duke.edu) to let us know to pick up the recording. Be sure to indicate the date, course and room, and whether you started and stopped the recording more than once.
13. If you wish to copy off the recording yourself, look in the iRecords folder on the desktop. Please do not remove others' recordings.
