  • BLSA shoe drive throughout November
    Please support Duke BLSA in helping someone "walk a mile in our shoes" at our "Soles for Souls" shoe drive. All used shoes (adult, children, dress, and athletic) will be donated to third world countries. (No steel toe shoes or 4-inch heels.) Drop off shoes in labeled boxes in the Blue Lounge.   • Ad hoc Seminar & International Social Justice and Legal Services Trip to Brazil (March 6-13, 2010)
    Between 8 and 10 Duke Law students will be selected to participate in this seminar and trip. Participants will provide legal assistance to local communities and public interest NGOs on a concrete project concerning issues of social justice, international human rights, and/or comparative law. Application deadline is Dec. 4, 2010.
  • Participate in the annual Project Share fundraiser
    Each year, the Duke Law community sponsors local families through Project Share by raising money to buy holiday gifts for them. In the past seven years, we have raised over $30,000, aiding more than 600 disadvantaged residents of the city we share. Donations may be in cash or check (payable to Bill Hoye) and delivered to Room 2023 by Fri., Dec. 4. More info at: http://bit.ly/1BqBGv.

  • Duke Student Health Pharmacy closing Dec. 18
    The Student Health Pharmacy will be closing permanently on Dec. 18, 2009. Prescriptions held at this pharmacy will be automatically transferred to the outpatient clinic pharmacy at Duke Hospital South Clinic. If you want a prescription transferred to another pharmacy, call Student Health at 681-WELL, option 4.
  • Duke Young Trustee applications due Nov. 30
    The application to become the new Graduate and Professional student Young Trustee is available now at gpsc.duke.edu/young_trustee. Young Trustees serve on the University Board of Trustees and vote on decisions that shape the future of Duke University. Serving as a Young Trustee is a very prestigious honor and a great opportunity. Applications (cover letter and resume) are due Nov. 30.
  • Kaplan PMBR Information Table
    On Wednesday, November 18 from 12-3, Kaplan PMBR will have a table set up outside of the library and will honor fall sale prices (fall sale prices are discounted up to $450). Kaplan PMBR will also have information on the different bar exams, food, giveaways, and more. So be sure to stop by the table!
  • Public Interest Retreat sign-ups today
    Reconnect with why you came to Duke! This year's Public Interest Retreat, "Late Night with Public Interest: Tune Into Your Future," will be Jan. 29-30. The retreat is an opportunity for you to hear from speakers who work in different sectors of public interest. Cost is $25 cash/check to "Duke" until Dec. 11 ($30 after). A table for sign ups will be in the 3rd Floor Loggia during lunch this week.

  • Professor Blocher to discuss 2nd Amendment at Nov. 16 event
    Please join the Piedmont Triad Lawyers Chapter of the Federalist Society on Monday, Nov. 16 for a debate between Alan Gura and Professor Joseph Blocher on the future of the 2nd Amendment. Gura and Blocher both participated in last year's District of Columbia v. Heller decision. Event begins at 5 with a networking reception at Womble Carlyle in Winston-Salem. See website for details.
