Student Papers Series

The Duke Law Student Paper Series is open to all JD, LLM, and SJD students at Duke Law School who are interested in contributing to the exchange of legal ideas in our community. While law school offers many opportunities to write memos and papers and to take part in a multitude of legal discourses, the Student Paper Series presents a unique forum for presenting ideas, trying out argumentation on fellow students, and improving writing skills.

In the spring, the Duke Law Student Papers Series will organize a number of events dedicated to the presentation and discussion of student papers. Students presenting papers will receive comments from student discussants and participate in general debate with other attending students. The Faculty Scholarly Repository has also offered to include presented student papers in their yearly collection.

The goal of the Series is to open up the academic discourse of students at Duke to the insight and feedback of our own and other communities. Participation in the Series will help students develop the argument of a student note, research paper, or other writing sample, and will improve the presentation and argumentation skills valuable in any legal career.

Faculty sponsors for the Student Paper Series are Professor Barak Richman and Professor Ralf Michaels.
