Research Tutorial: Law, Gender & Race
This tutorial is a writing seminar, designed to provide an opportunity for closely supervised academic scholarship leading to a publishable paper. Students will choose a topic relating to law and gender, develop that topic through several drafts, and conduct an in-class workshop on the paper. They will read each others drafts and provide oral and written feedback to one another. The course is graded, and the grade is based both on the quality of the paper and the quality of the feedback given to other students.
Limited to 8 students.
Fall semester: 1 credit
Spring semester: 2-3 additional credits, depending upon scope and ambition of the project. Students will not be allowed to enroll in the spring semester of this tutorial unless they have developed a topic, thesis, and research plan by the end of the fall semester that is approved by the instructor.
Prerequisite: Permission of the Instructor, based on previous or concurrent enrollment in Gender and Law, Employment Discrimination Law, or other course or research background related to relevant research interests.
