Installing Printers

Installing on Windows Vista

The Novell Vista Windows client client does not include printing capability. You also need to install the Vista iPrint client, as follows:

  1. Your computer must be running Vista Business or Vista Ultimate. The iPrint client does not work with the Vista Home editions.
  2. You must have installed Vista Service Pack 1. If you have not installed it, use the Windows Update feature to install it. Note that downloading and installing service pack 1 may take 60 - 90 minutes.
  3. Open Internet Explorer as Administrator: Right-click on the I.E. icon and select "Run as administrator."
  4. Browse to http://srnserv.law.duke.edu/ipp.
  5. Select the link "Install iPrint Client." Accept the default prompts, and reboot the computer when prompted to do so.
  6. Following restart, again open Internet Explorer as Administrator: Right-click on the I.E. icon and select "Run as administrator."
  7. Browse to http://srnserv.law.duke.edu/ipp.
  8. Under "Install Printer" select "ControlStationPrinters." Accept the default prompts.

Installing on Windows XP

  1. Logon to the Novell server with the Novell NetWare client.
  2. Select Start | Printers and Faxes
  3. Select 'Add a printer' to start the "Add Printer Wizard."
  4. Click on Next and select 'A Network printer, or a printer attached to another computer.’
  5. Click Next to continue.
  6. For the printer name, click Next. The system will browse for network printers.
  7. Double click NDPS printers, then Double click NDPS Controlled Access Printers.
  8. Double click SRN.LAW and select "ControlStationPrinters."
  9. At the 'Hardware Installation’ Warning screen select 'Continue Anyway’
  10. The printer driver will be installed.

Installing on Windows 2000

  1. Logon to the network.
  2. Select Start | Settings | Printers.
  3. Select 'Add a printer' to start the "Add Printer Wizard."
  4. Click on Next and select 'A Network printer, or a printer attached to another computer.’
  5. Click Next to continue.
  6. For the printer name, click Next. The system will browse for network printers.
  7. Double click NDPS printers, then Double click NDPS Controlled Access Printers.
  8. Double click SRN.LAW and select "ControlStationPrinters."
  9. At the 'Hardware Installation’ Warning screen select 'Continue Anyway’
  10. The printer driver will be installed.

Installing on Macintosh OS X

  1. Open Safari to http://srnserv.law.duke.edu/ipp
  2. Select "Install iPrint Client."
  3. Afer completing the installation, restart Safari.
  4. Open Safari to http://srnserv.law.duke.edu/ipp
  5. Select either of the Macintosh printers: MacLevel2LJ9040 or MacFiteRoom 9040.
  6. If prompted for a user name and password, enter your Macintosh user name and password.
  7. When you print, your job will go directly to the selected printer. Macs will not use printer control stations.
