Printing to a Student Network Printer
The Student Network relies on printer control stations to manage printing. To print a document, select "ControlStationPrinters" as your printer. Your document will be held in a queue until you release it for printing at a printer control station. If you do not print your document within 24 hours, it will be deleted from the queue. Windows Vista and Macintosh OS X users must take an extra step. The current Novell Vista Client and the iPrint client on Macintosh do not authenticate print jobs (associate them with your LawI), so your print jobs are not authenticated with your LawID when you send them. Therefore they will not appear in the pinter control station screen until you authenticate them. You may authenticate them by pointing your web browser to https://srnserv.law.duke.edu:8009/AuthJobs. Login with your LawID and the screen will display a list of unauthenticated print jobs. Check the ones you wish to authenticate and select the "Print" button. Logoff. You jobs will now appear at the print control station screen. Note that any user can see unauthenticated jobs, so you should authenticate your job as soon as possible after you create it.
You can follow these instructions to set up double-sided printing on your computer.
Using SRN Printer Control Stations
Printer control stations are available in the Fite Room; next to the Level 2 printers outside the student records office; next to the printer behind room 3037; and next to the printer on Level 4.
To release a print job for printing, follow these steps:
- Logon at the control station with your LawID and password.
- Your pending jobs are now displayed.
- Select your print job(s) by selecting the checkbox. You may select multiple jobs by selecting multiple checkboxes.
- Click on the “Print” button to release the jobs for printing.
- You will then be presented with a prompt to select which printer to use. Select the printer from which you want to print your jobs.
- Click on the “Delete” button to cancel print jobs.
- When you are finished, click the “Logout” button so other users may access their print job list.
Print jobs you do not release for printing will be automatically deleted after 24 hours in the queue.
