NetWare Network Files

Novell NetWare makes your network home directory, drive J: for faculty and staff and drive R: for students, available to you over any Internet connection. You may use a web browser from any computer to connect with NetStorage. Alternatively, you can install the NetWare Windows client on your computer. In either case please keep in mind that performance with broadband connections will be substantially better than with dial-up connections.

Using NetStorage with a Web Browser

Select the appropriate link below. A login dialog box will open - enter your Faculty Network or SRN user name and password in the appropriate fields and select "OK." Open the folder "Home@LAWSCHOOL_TREE" by double-clicking it. The files and folders in your home directory are listed. You can open folders by double-clicking them. Use the "File" menu to upload, download or open files. The scroll bar at the bottom of the screen lets you move through the file listings. Move the box on the double-arrow to browse through the listings.

Note: due to a configuration issue, at this time, users must log in with their context. For faculty and staff, that means using as login name LAWID.duke_law.law (where LAWID should be replaced with your own ID). For students, use LAWID.srn.law (replace LAWID with your own ID).

Installing NetWare on your computer

If you prefer the same access to your files that you have on law school computers, you may install the Novell NetWare client on your Windows computer. Download the client installer program from the software download page. Save it to your hard drive, then open the installer program. When it has finished, reboot your computer. You may then logon to the law school network by right-clicking the red N on the system tray and selecting "Novell Login."
