Duke University automatically provides an E-Mail alias to all students. Typically the alias is "first name.middle initial.last name@duke.edu." This address is not a real mailbox, but forwards mail to the address contained in the companion e-mail address field. Several university offices, including the university registrar's office, use the alias to send you official communication.
Law School computing services automatically requests that Duke OIT (Office of Information Technology) sets the address to deliver to your law school mailbox, but it is important for you to check the alias email address setting to be sure it is delivering mail to your law school mailbox.
Set the alias e-mail address to your law school e-mail box as soon as possible. You can check and if necessary change your alias settings by going to http://www.duke.edu/online.
Check Your Duke University E-mail:
You should check your university email mailbox to determine whether mail was delivered to it before your alias settings were set to deliver to your law school mailbox. Check that box by going to http://www.mail.duke.edu/. Login using your university NetID and password - these are the same credentials you use on ACES web for course registration and grade lookup.
Check Your Blackboard Email Settings:
With many law school classes now using the Blackboard system for communications, you should verify that your correct email address or email alias is in the Blackboard system. Logon to Blackboard with your NetID at https://courses.duke.edu and go to to Personal Information | Edit Personal Information.
