Archive Messages

Warning: Any messages in your student GroupWise mailbox that are more than one year old are automatically deleted on a weekly basis without any additional warning to you. This applies to mail stored in folders, mail you have not read and mail in Sent Items. You can save messages from deletion by Archiving.

First, tell GroupWise where to save your archived messages:

  1. Click Tools | Options
  2. Double click Environment
  3. Click File Location tab
  4. If you are using a Student Research Network computer, put r:\ in the Archive Directory box
    If you are using your own laptop,use c:\ (your hard drive) as the Archive Directory location
  5. Click OK

Archive selected messages:

  1. Click on a message you want to archive. (You can also archive a group of messages all at once by highlighting all of them. Hold down the Ctrl key and click on individual messages, or hold down the Shift key and click the top and bottom message.)
  2. Click Actions | Archive. The messages you highlighted have now moved to the Archive.

Automatic archiving:

You can set GroupWise to automatically archive your messages as well, but remember you have a total of 100 megabytes of space on the SRN.

  1. Click Tools | Options
  2. Double click Environment
  3. Click Cleanup tab
  4. Under Mail and phone click Auto-archive after and choose the number of days
  5. Click OK

View messages in the archive:

  1. In the main GroupWise window seledt File | Open Archive
    You should see all messages you have archived
  2. To go back to your Online MailBox, click File | Open Archive again.
