The Class Gift Effort
Reunions provide an opportunity to renew friendships, to reminisce about your years on campus, and to learn more about the life and vision of the school today. The Law School has developed operating and funding priorities which include increasing student financial aid, expanding the size of the faculty, strengthening the clinics program, and broadening the legal writing and advocacy programs.
Your reunion gift has a direct impact on the ability of the school to achieve these goals, especially because reunion giving constitutes about 25% of the school's unrestricted financial support. Reunion Class Gifts represent the sum total of financial support provided by alumni celebrating their Reunion in a given class.
Your gift is a powerful demonstration of your commitment to the continued growth and progress of Duke Law School and its students. Gifts large and small are welcome as expressions of loyalty and support for your class and for the Law School. » Learn more about reunion giving
Reunion Committee
Several of your classmates have volunteered to serve on the 2009 Reunion Committee. Committee members' main role is to reach out to each classmate before Reunion to encourage them to attend and to answer any questions they might have about the event. Committee members will also be talking to classmates about the Class Gift effort and encouraging them to join in supporting Duke Law School this year in honor of your Reunion.
If you are interested in volunteering your time to the Reunion Committee, please contact Kris Jensen (jensen@law.duke.edu) for more information. All are welcome! The general committee member duties are listed below:
- Help to build the Reunion Committee: make calls to classmates to ask them to join the committee
- Make about 10 phone calls to your selection of classmates encouraging attendance and participation in your Class Gift
- Take part in 4 planning conference calls
- Sign (and help write) 2 letters to classmates about Reunion activities and planning
- Commit to making a gift to the Class Gift effort
- Sign (and help write) 2 letters to classmates about the Class Gift effort
- Help to plan the program for your Class Dinner on Saturday of Reunion.
- Encourage classmate participation in your Class Gift effort
Reunion Committee activities will begin in August 2008, and will continue through the Reunion in April.
