"Confronting Terrorism" Conference The Conference continues. Reunion ’07 Registration Hardt Cup Moot Court Competition Watch the final round of the annual Hardt Cup, a moot court competition for 1L students. Barrister Donor Society & Heritage Society Reception (invitation only) Join outgoing dean, Katharine T. Bartlett, and incoming dean, The Honorable David F. Levi, at this invitation-only event honoring members of the Barrister Donor Society and the Heritage Society. Members will receive an invitation to this event separate from the Reunion Weekend invitation. Silent Auction to Benefit PILF Visit the Silent Auction to benefit the Public Interest Law Foundation, which provides summer fellowships to students who wish to work in public interest areas.
Tour the Law School’s new wing during this progressive cocktail party. Various food and drink stations await around every corner as you explore the new classrooms, clinic space, journal offices, and conference rooms. Arrive by 7:30 to have a champagne toast and take a group photo with your class. At 8:00, Dean Katharine T. Bartlett and President Richard H. Brodhead will welcome Reunion attendees and introduce the incoming dean, The Honorable David F. Levi. Cap off the night with dinner and dancing under the stars. |

Reunion ’07 Registration Continental Breakfast Star Commons and Library Renovation Project Groundbreaking Ceremony Share in the official launch of the next phase of the Law School building renovation and expansion project at the future site of the Star Commons.
Duke Chronicle editor Seyward Darby joins Duke Law professors Kathryn Bradley, James Coleman, Thomas Metzloff, and Michael Tigar for a panel discussion exploring issues surrounding this high publicity case and focusing on the role of the prosecutor and the press. CLE credit available* Getting the Most Bang for Your Retirement Plan Buck A panel of experts highlights the opportunities and pitfalls that retirement plan assets create during the investment, retirement, and estate planning processes. Panelists will address both legal and practical aspects of planning with retirement benefits. Spouses and non-lawyers are encouraged to attend. Current Legal and Policy Issues in the War on Terrorism Professor Scott Silliman discusses current legal and policy issues in the ongoing War Against Terrorism. Topics include the administration’s detention of alleged terrorists at Guantanamo Bay and elsewhere, the use of military commissions to prosecute terrorists, the use of electronic surveillance by the National Security Agency within our borders, and the President’s program of extraordinary rendition. CLE credit available* Distinctive Aspects of American Law Documentary Series:Kelo v. City of New London Professor Thomas Metzloff presents the latest installment of the Distinctive Aspects of American Law Documentary Series, Kelo v. City of New London. When New London, Connecticut, an economically depressed city, developed a comprehensive plan to rebuild the Fort Trumbull area of town, Susette Kelo and some of her neighbors fought the City’s efforts to take their homes. Their lawsuit and the resulting Supreme Court decision created a firestorm of publicity on the issue of the proper role for eminent domain. CLE credit available* Duke Law School Committee on Academic Careers Alumni in academia meet to discuss how they can organize to (1) help more Duke alumni enter academic careers, and (2) develop a network of Duke alumni already in academic careers. Julian Juergensmeyer L’63 and Bradley Wendel L’94 host this working session. State of the University Address Duke University President Richard H. Brodhead presents the annual State of the University Address. A Conversation with Dean Katharine T. Bartlett and The Honorable David F. Levi Board of Visitors chair Peter Kahn L’76 interviews outgoing dean, Katharine T. Bartlett, and incoming dean, The Honorable David F. Levi. Bartlett and Levi discuss the tremendous momentum the Law School has built and the future of the program.

Class of 1957 & Half Century Club Lunch The Class of 1957 and the Half Century Club gather for a private lunch to dedicate the Beber Sculpture Garden, made possible by donations from Bob (L’57) and Joan Beber. Following the dedication of the Garden, the Class of 1957 will be inducted into the Half Century Club. Golf at the Washington Duke Inn Tee times available. African-American Alumni Pre-Reception The Black Law Students Association cordially invites all African-American alumni to mingle with current African-American students.
