As Director of Alumni Relations, Susan McLean oversees both the daily operations and the strategic vision of Duke Law School's alumni relations program. She and her assistant director are charged with keeping alumni engaged in the dynamic community of Duke Law through a diverse offering of social, educational and networking opportunities. A member of the Alumni and Development team since September 2004, Susan may be found hosting events around the country, planning for Reunion or helping connect lost classmates. She welcomes your calls and emails and encourages you to stay connected to Duke. Before joining the Law School staff, Susan taught in the North Carolina public schools, worked as the director of blood services for the Durham Chapter of the American Red Cross and served as the logistics and events planning manager for the Visiting International Faculty Program, the United States' largest cultural-exchange program for teachers and schools. Susan and her husband of 26 years, Troy, have a sixteen-year-old daughter who requires most of their time and energy. When not at the Law School, Susan enjoys music, travel and spending time with friends and family. |

As Assistant Director of Alumni Relations, Dawn actively works to strengthen the life-long engagement of alumni with Duke Law School. Dawn assists in building the Duke Law Alumni Club network by establishing new and supporting existing alumni clubs. She seeks to create and support robust regional alumni programs and alumni-related events, working closely with club leaders, alumni volunteers, faculty and staff. Prior to her position at Duke, Dawn served as senior associate director of marketing, operations and leadership programs for the office of alumni affairs and annual giving at the Wharton Business School of the University of Pennsylvania. She is a graduate of the Philadelphia College of Textiles and Science and holds an M.B.A. in finance and a B.S. in marketing and business administration. Dawn, a native of Philadelphia, PA, has strong family ties to Norlina, North Carolina, where her grandmother was born and relatives still reside. When not at the Law School, Dawn enjoys creative writing, music, interior decorating and spending time with her family. |
