Joint-degree Programs
Twenty-five percent of students at Duke pursue a joint degree -- that's more than any other top law school in the country. Students who choose these routes embody the Duke Law spirit: They're driven, they're curious, and they want a challenge. By taking advantage of our commitment to interdisciplinary education, joint degree students enhance their academic experience, and their post-Duke experience, in every way possible.
Another advantage of Duke’s joint academic degree programs is that students do not pay separately for Graduate School courses. Students simply pay the cost of three years of law school and one summer session.

JD/LLM Program
Since 1985, Duke has offered select American students the opportunity to pursue a joint degree in international and comparative law in three years. This unique joint JD/LLM program has grown stronger as the internationalization of the legal profession increases. Duke has relationships with 14 foreign universities in such countries as Australia, Belgium, China, France, Hong Kong, Japan, Singapore, and South Africa. A hallmark of the program is the four weeks students spend at one of the Duke Summer Institutes: the Duke-Geneva Institute in Transnational Law or the Asia-America Institute in Transnational Law in Hong Kong.

During two semesters in Paris, students must complete 11 required courses and four electives at Paris I and Sciences Po, primarily Masters degree level courses in global business law and economics and, if needed, an introduction to French law.
