JD/MBA Admissions Information

How to Apply

Applicants for Duke University's JD/MBA dual degree program may complete a single form through the Law School Admissions Council's e-app service that will serve as their applications to both The Duke MBA and The Duke University School of Law. Each school will review the application separately and make an independent decision on admission to its degree. Applicants who receive offers of admission from both schools prior to matriculation at either school generally begin the JD/MBA in the JD program.

Applicants who are admitted to one school but not the other may reapply to the other school later in their academic career at Duke. Likewise, students who matriculate at one school without applying for the JD/MBA may complete the JD/MBA application in their first year of study (or second for law students). Please note that admission to the other program is not guaranteed at any time.

Financial Aid Consideration

The Law School
Duke Law School awards scholarships both on the basis of merit and on the basis of merit plus financial need. All admitted students are eligible for scholarship consideration. Information about applying for Duke Law scholarships will be sent to admitted students after they receive their offer of admission.

The Duke MBA
The Duke MBA program makes financial aid available in the form of merit-based scholarships and through various student loan programs. Merit scholarship recipients are selected by the Admissions Merit Scholarship Committee.

The criteria for selection include prior academic achievement, demonstrated qualities of leadership, involvement in the community, extracurricular activities, and professional accomplishments. These awards are for the two-year duration of the MBA program and range from partial tuition to full tuition.

The Duke MBA merit scholarships are awarded on a two-year basis to enable applicants to plan for the entire cost of a Duke MBA education. There is no funding for new awards in the second year. Thus, students who enroll without scholarship funding should not anticipate an award for the second year of the program.

The merit scholarship awards are made independent of determining a student's eligibility for student loans and work-study employment.

Every admitted applicant is considered for a merit scholarship. If selected to be a scholarship recipient, the admitted applicant will receive notification of the award approximately two weeks after admission.

A variety of student loan programs are available to both domestic and international students enrolled at The Fuqua School of Business. Students are eligible to apply for a combination of federal and alternative student loans to meet their cost of tuition, fees, books, and related living expenses as estimated in the cost of attendance.
