Network Access - Wifi and Wired

Wireless networking using the Wi-Fi (also known as 802.11a/g/n) standard is available throughout the law school building and the law school annex. There are currently two choices of wireless network: VISITOR is available to any visitor and is limited to accessing web sites only, and DUKE is available for most types of use to persons with a valid NETID.

All classrooms, the Goodson Law Library and many other locations also offer wired network connections. An ethernet cable (unshielded twisted pair) is required to connect.

NetReg - Network Registration and Authentication

To use the wireless network you must authenticate with your NetID. You will need to register once each semester.
  1. Open a web browser and it will automatically open the NetReg authentication page.
  2. Enter your Duke NetID and password in the indicated spaces and select the Submit button.
  3. Once authenticated, you should restart your computer to allow a new IP address to be assigned.
Following restart you may freely browse the Internet and use other network applications, including the NetWare login and GroupWise. For more detailed information, please visit the main NetReg page: OIT Network Registration System
