Installing Printers
Quick instructions for installing iprint on Windows Vista and Windows 7
The Novell Vista Windows client client does not include printing capability. You also need to install the Vista iPrint client, as follows:
- Your computer must be running Vista Business or Vista Ultimate (or Windows 7). The iPrint client does not work with the Vista Home editions.
- You must have installed Vista Service Pack 1. If you have not installed it, use the Windows Update feature to install it. Note that downloading and installing service pack 1 may take 60 - 90 minutes.
- Open Internet Explorer as Administrator: to do so, Right-click on the I.E. icon and select "Run as administrator."
- Browse to http://lawprint.law.duke.edu/ipp.
- Select the link "Install iPrint Client." Accept the default prompts, and reboot the computer when prompted to do so.
- Following restart, again open Internet Explorer as Administrator: Right-click on the I.E. icon and select "Run as administrator."
- Browse to http://lawprint.law.duke.edu/ipp.
- Under "Install Printer", select the printer(s) you wish ti install. Accept the default prompts. When prompted to authenticate, for the user name or login name enter your information in the following style: "cn=lawid,ou=srn,o=law" omitting the quotes and substituting your own LawID where indicated.
- If you find that you are unable to authenticate, try entering your login name in the follwing style: ".lawid.srn.law" omitting the quotes and substituting your own lawid where indicated.
Installing iprint on Windows XP
- Logon to the Novell server with the Novell NetWare client.
- Select Start | Internet Explorer
- Browse to http://lawprint.law.duke.edu/ipp.
- Select the link "Install iPrint Client." Accept the default prompts, and reboot the computer when prompted to do so.
- Following restart, again open Internet Explorer.
- Browse to http://lawprint.law.duke.edu/ipp.
- Under "Install Printer", select the printer(s) you wish ti install. Accept the default prompts. When prompted to authenticate, for the user name or login name enter your information in the following style: "cn=lawid,ou=srn,o=law" omitting the quotes and substituting your own LawID where indicated.
- If you find that you are unable to authenticate, try entering your login name in the follwing style: ".lawid.srn.law" omitting the quotes and substituting your own lawid where indicated.
- The printer driver will be installed.
Installing iprint on Macintosh OS X
- Open Safari to http://lawprint.law.duke.edu/ipp
- Select "Install iPrint Client."
- If prompted for a user name and password, enter your Macintosh user name and password.
- Afer completing the installation, restart Safari.
- Open Safari to http://lawprint.law.duke.edu/ipp
- Under "Install Printer", select the printer(s) you wish ti install (If you experience an error where the browser reports that there is an error communicating with the printer and you are running Mac OS X 10.5, please install the combo update from Apple - this will take a while - and restart from step 4). Accept the default prompts. When prompted to authenticate, for the user name or login name enter your information in the following style: "cn=lawid,ou=srn,o=law" omitting the quotes and substituting your own LawID where indicated.
- If you find that you are unable to authenticate, try entering your login name in the follwing style: ".lawid.srn.law" omitting the quotes and substituting your own lawid where indicated.
