ePrint Instructions for Windows

Follow the instructions below (courtesy of Duke Office of Information Technology) to install the ePrint software on Windows XP, Vista, and Windows 7 operating systems.  The new version of the ePrint client works with both 32-bit and 64-bit operating systems.

You must uninstall ePrint software and ePrint printers older than July 1, 2011, before the current software can be installed!  Please choose the directions for your operating system and follow these steps to make sure that this is done correctly. If you've never installed ePrint before, go on to the directions to Install the ePrint software.

A reboot is required as part of the uninstallation process. You may want to copy and paste these directions into a Word document in order to refer to them later.

Windows 7
NOTE:  The vast majority of Windows 7 users will not have to uninstall the software. If you have new software or previously used the "workaround" solution to use ePrint in Windows 7, you may skip the uninstallation instructions. Make sure that you perform step 1 of the installation instructions verify that ePrint-OIT, ePrint-OIT(2-sided), and ePrint-Color(Fee) are not in the Printers folder. If these printers are still present, the installation may have errors.
 
Uninstall any previous ePrint software:

Install the ePrint software:

NOTE: Your computer must be connected to the Internet during the installation process.

  1. Open your Printers Folder (click Start > Control Panel > Devices and Printers) to verify ePrint-OIT printers have been removed.  If any ePrint printers remain, right-click on the ePrint printer and select Delete.
  2. Download the ePrint client - You may Run it from the website or you may Save and then run it from where it is saved.
  3. If the User Access Control window opens, click the Allow option to let the installation continue
  4. When the installer window opens, click the Install button and let the installation complete.  If this fails, please check that you're connected to the Internet.
  5. When the installation completes, click Finish.  You should now be able to use ePrint - no reboot should be necessary.
Vista
NOTE:  If you have new software or have a 64-bit version of Vista and used the "workaround" solution, you may skip the uninstallation instructions. Make sure that you perform step 1 of the installation instructions verify that ePrint-OIT, ePrint-OIT(2-sided), and ePrint-Color(Fee) are not in the Printers folder. If these printers are still present, the installation may have errors.
 
Uninstall any previous ePrint software:
  1. Save any work that you're currently doing, then close any running programs.
  2. Click Start
  3. Select the Control Panel
  4. When the Control Panel opens, select Programs
  5. When the Programs window opens, select Installed Programs
  6. When the list of program populates in Installed Programs, select Pharos, and click File > Change/Remove. If Pharos is not present, please go on to the directions to Install the ePrint software.
  7. Choose Run Uninstaller and click Next
  8. When the Pharos Uninstallation window opens, click Next
  9. When Select Components opens, check the box for Pharos Notify, Pharos Popups and click Next
  10. When Pharos Directory opens specifying C:Program FilesPharos, click Next
  11. When Start Installation opens, click Start
  12. After the Installing window reaches 100%, a confirmation window named Finished should open - click Finish
  13. When the Install window opens asking if you'd like to restart your computer, click OK and reboot your PC

Install the ePrint software:

NOTE: Your computer must be connected to the Internet during the installation process.

  1. Open your Printers Folder (click Start > Control Panel > Hardware and SoundPrinters)to verify ePrint-OIT printers have been removed. If any ePrint printers remain, right-click on the ePrint printer and select Delete.
  2. Download the ePrint client - You may Run it from the website or you may Save and then run it from where it is saved.
  3. If the User Access Control window opens, click the Allow option to let the installation continue
  4. When the installer window opens, click the Install button and let the installation complete.  If this fails, please check that you're connected to the Internet.
  5. When the installation completes, click Finish. You should now be able to use ePrint - no reboot should be necessary.
Windows XP
Uninstall any old ePrint software:
  1. Save any work that you're currently doing, then close any running programs.
  2. Click Start
  3. Select the Control Panel
  4. When the Control Panel opens, select Add or Remove Programs
  5. When the list of program populates in Add or Remove Programs, select Pharos, and click Change/Remove. If Pharos is not present, please go on to the directions to Install the ePrint software.  
  6. Choose Run Uninstaller and click Next. When the Pharos Uninstallation window opens, click Next
  7. When Select Components opens, check the box for Pharos Notify, Pharos Popups and click Next
  8. When Pharos Directory opens specifying C:Program FilesPharos, click Next
  9. When Start Installation opens, click Start
  10. After the Installing window reaches 100%, a confirmation window named Finished should open - click Finish
  11. When the Install window opens asking if you'd like to restart your computer, click OK and reboot your PC
