Tips for Using Student Network Computers
Tips for using SRN computers
Logging In
Press the Ctrl + Alt + Delete keys to get to the login screen. The Novell NetWare login window should be displayed. If it is not, the prior user may not have logged out. In that case select Start | Shutdown | Restart to prepare the computer for your use.
Type your login name and password in the indicated spaces. If login fails, retype them - you may have mistyped the password, which does not display. If you still cannot login, contact the help desk.
Logging Out
To log out and prepare the computer for the next user select Start | Shutdown | Restart. Verify that the computer does in fact close your session and offer a login screen. If you do not log out the next user may access your files and send messages under your name.
Browser Settings
Keep in mind that these are shared, publicly accessible computers. If you change any personal settings such as your e-mail address or name identity in a browser you should remove those settings before you leave the computer. Otherwise the next user may send messages bearing your name. Some web sites, including Lexis and Westlaw, will ask whether to save your password. Always select "no" when using a Student Research Network computer or your password and account will be accessible to another user.
